The UK Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has a complex framework; however, the executive agency is a critical public body responsible for policy making, advice and delivering direct procurement services to government departments. As of 2014-15, the 700 strong was supporting more than 1,400 government departments by managing almost 450 contracts. With more than £15.1 Bn in procurement spend, the agency was dealing with thousands of suppliers. Any successful alliance with such an agency requires a deep and through understanding of its structure and its inner-workings. Identifying the relevant framework agreements and the suppliers contracting under those agreements provided an exceptional understanding of the competitive environment to the client. Further, insightful biographies of key stakeholders within CCS also assisted in building an understanding of the organization structure.
